Our Infrastructure
Roads, Traffic, Transit, Water & Stormwater
Can infrastructure keep up with growth? Roads, sidewalks, transit, water, wastewater and stormwater all have to absorb thousands of new residents — and someone has to pay for it.

Why this matters now
- The Town's 2026 survey specifically identified roads and sidewalks as improvement opportunities.
- The Town adopted an updated Transportation Master Plan in 2025, covering transit, cycling, pedestrian safety and congestion.
- Water, wastewater and waste sit with Halton Region, while local roads and Oakville Transit sit with the Town — which is why residents get bounced between them.
Who has the power?
Four levels, four different jobs

Halton Region
Regional roads, drinking water and wastewater systems, waste collection.
Province of Ontario

Government of Canada
Federal infrastructure and transit funding programs.
Questions residents are asking
- Why is traffic getting worse on my street?
- Are roads, sidewalks and transit keeping pace with new units approved?
- Who pays for new infrastructure — development charges, taxes, or rates?
- What is the plan for stormwater as we pave more of the town?
What are residents saying?
"Two schools, one two-lane road, and four hundred more units approved."
"I called the Town, they said it's a Regional road. I called the Region, they said talk to the Province."
