Transparency, Consultation & Accountability
This isn't just another issue — it's the reason Our Oakville exists. Every resident should be able to trace a decision from the promise to the vote to the outcome.
Transparency
Consultation
Accountability
Why this matters now
- Residents are not short on care or competence. We're short on shared information and shared timing.
- When decisions are traceable, better questions get asked earlier and bad ideas get improved instead of litigated.
- Accountability is not an election-week activity. It's a permanent practice we intend to keep after October.
Who has the power?
Four levels, four different jobs
Town of Oakville
Council and committee agendas, delegations, public meetings, records requests, notice requirements.
Halton Region
Regional Council and board meetings, including the Police Services Board.
Province of Ontario
Planning Act notice and appeal rules, Ombudsman, Information and Privacy Commissioner.
Government of Canada
Access to information, federal consultation requirements.
Questions residents are asking
- Who made this decision?
- What evidence did they use?
- What did residents say?
- What did they promise?
- What happens next?
- Who is accountable?
What are residents saying?
"I don't need to win every time. I need to know how the decision was made."
"Consultation shouldn't mean being told after."
